16 March: #SENDparentvoices

Posted by

We gave parent views from across the SEND spectrum to local politicians at a reception for councillors, Parliamentary Candidates and our member of the London Assembly on 16 March. We wanted to make sure that the issues facing families of children with special needs are on the agenda in the run up to the Election in May.

On the night, we described the work that GPV does in Greenwich, highlighted priority topics for carers and shared our ideas on how to make things better. Our guests met with a small group of volunteer GPV Parent Consultants, who told them their own stories.

At the end of the evening we presented guests with an Action for Change 2015. This is list of guarantees and changes that parents across the borough have asked for, covering education, health, social care and employment for young people. We will be working with the council to try and get progress on all these actions.

The GPV Action for Change will be updated yearly. Do you have any ideas on how carers could be better supported? Let’s make this a comprehensive and truly representative document. Tell us by email..
